Project Manager – EMEA Defence
Lead end-to-end defence projects across UK/Europe with clear planning, strong governance, and trusted stakeholder collaboration to boost readiness and mission success.
About the role
As a Project Manager within 4C Strategies’ EMEA Defence Team, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of software-enabled defence projects that enhance military readiness, training, and operational capability.
You will manage projects from initiation through customer sign-off and transition into support, overseeing planning, stakeholder alignment, risk management, and execution. Working closely with defence customers as well as internal teams, you will ensure structured, professional delivery within complex and mission-critical environments.
As part of 4C’s Defence delivery organisation, you will collaborate across Product, Engineering, Support, and Sales functions. The role focuses primarily on UK and European defence customers, often within secure or highly regulated settings, while contributing to the ongoing improvement of delivery standards and project governance across the Defence portfolio.
Key responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end delivery of defence projects, ensuring structured planning, execution, governance, and successful customer acceptance.
• Develop and maintain clear project plans covering scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, and resource allocation.
• Act as the primary point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders, providing transparent reporting on progress, risks, and issues.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary delivery teams, setting expectations, tracking actions, and fostering accountability across dispersed locations.
• Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies and escalating where appropriate.
• Ensure deliverables meet agreed requirements, acceptance criteria, and quality standards.
• Manage project documentation including initiation materials, requirements artefacts, delivery plans, and handover documentation.
• Support transition to support and early-life usage, ensuring customers are positioned for sustainable success.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and strengthening delivery frameworks, templates, and governance practices.
• Identify growth opportunities within customer engagements and support business development activity where appropriate.
• Represent 4C professionally and exemplify disciplined, collaborative, and customer-focused delivery.
About you
You are a structured and delivery-focused project professional with experience operating in defence or security environments. You bring calm leadership to complex programmes, communicate clearly with senior stakeholders, and maintain control of scope, timelines, and quality in technically focused projects.
You are comfortable operating with autonomy while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams. You take ownership of outcomes, manage risk proactively, and provide clarity where ambiguity exists. You understand the importance of professionalism, discretion, and rigour when working in mission-critical defence contexts.
